The Pleurotus eryngii, also known as the slippery mushroom or pearl mushroom, is named for the sticky and smooth juice on its cap surface and the smooth texture when eaten. It has both edible value and certain therapeutic advantages.
Morphological characteristics
The cap is initially flat and hemispherical. As it matures, it gradually flattens out, with a diameter of 3 to 10 centimeters, and its color transitions from reddish-brown to yellowish-brown. The stem of the fungus is 2.5 to 8 centimeters long, slightly thicker at the base, and its surface also has a sticky and slippery feel.
